Employment growth seen as slowing

A report examining job vacancies advertised online, shows employment growth appears to be slowing.

The monthly Jobs Online report by the Department of Labour monitors vacancies advertised on the two main internet job websites, Seek and Trade Me Jobs.

It shows, in seasonally-adjusted terms, the number of vacancies fell 1.1% in July, after a 2.3% increase in June.

There was no growth in skilled vacancies during the month, with the education and training industry reporting 21% more vacancies, and the IT, accounting, human resources and administration sectors all recording fewer vacancies.

For the year, job vacancies increased by 16% and vacancies for skilled workers increased by 17%.
