Kia Kaha Clothing in liquidation

Kia Kaha Clothing, a company that rose to fame when New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell wore its shirts during his 2005 US Open win, is in liquidation.

The Inland Revenue Department was granted liquidation at the High Court in Palmerston North on Thursday. It was seeking payment of unpaid tax.

John Fisk of PriceWaterhouseCooper, who has been appointed as liquidator, says the Kia Kaha brand is the company's most valuable asset and attempts will be made to realise that value by selling the company as a going concern.

He says the company, based in Upper-Hutt, has about $50,000 in existing orders, but it is not clear how many of those will be completed.
