Harvey Norman boosts profits, although New Zealand sales fall

Australasian furniture and electrical retailer Harvey Norman has announced a 9% increase in its full-year profit.

The company made $A252.26 million in the 12 months to the end of June compared with $A231.41 for the previous year to June 2010.

Sales at its New Zealand stores fell almost 4% as the already challenging retail environment was made worse by the increase in GST and the Christchurch earthquakes.
