Defence giant BAE Systems cuts 3000 jobs

Defence firm BAE Systems will cut almost 3000 jobs in Britain, mainly in its military aircraft division.

The company is blaming falling demand for its Typhoon fighter jets and military spending cuts.

BAE employs 40,000 people in the UK, and 100,000 worldwide, and the biggest job cuts will be at sites in Lancashire and Yorkshire, the BBC reports.
