Sharemarket up in Thursday's trade

The benchmark NZX50 index closed up 18 points, or 0.54%, to 3346 on Thursday.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm the NZ dollar was at 76.34 US, 79.30 Australian cents, 49.51 pence, 58.61 yen and 0.5730 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 68.45.

Fletcher Building was up 18 cents at $7.81, Telecom was up 2 cents at $2.60, and Contact Energy was up 3 cents at $5.55.

Sky City Entertainment was up 4 cents at $3.34, Sky Network TV was unchanged at $5.42, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 3 cents at $2.55, The Warehouse was down 5 cents at $3.15 and Air New Zealand was unchanged at $1.07.

Freightways was down 8 cents at $3.30 after agreeing to purchase Iron Mountain New Zealand for $12.7 million earlier this week.

Hallenstein Glasson was down 2 cents at $3.48 and Infratil was down 1 cent at $1.80.

Port of Tauranga was down 9 cents at $9.71.

Restaurant Brands was up 1 cent at $2.21.

NZX was unchanged at $2.36 after its chief executive, Mark Weldon, announced he'll step down next year.
