Sharmarket continues rise in Friday's trading

The benchmark NZX50 index ended Friday's trading up 37 points, or 1.1 percent, at 3383

Amng the major movements,

Fletcher Building was up 7 cents at $7.88, Telecom was unchanged at $2.60, and Contact Energy ended the day up 9 cents at $5.64.

Sky City Entertainment gained 11 cents to $3.45, Sky Network TV was up 15 cents at $5.57, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 4 cents at $2.59, The Warehouse was up 2 cents at $3.17, and Air New Zealand gained 1 cent to end the day at $1.08.

Freightways was up 3 cents at $3.33, Hallenstein Glasson up 4 cents at $3.52, and Infratil up 4 cents at $1.84.

Port of Tauranga lost 11 cents to $9.60, Restaurant Brands ws down 1 cent at $2.20, and Cavalier Carpets was unchanged at $3.10.

NZX was unchanged at $2.36 after its chief executive, Mark Weldon, announced on Thursday he will step down in 2012.

In currency markets, at 5.20 pm the NZ dollar was buying 77.20 US, 79 Australian, 49.96 pence, 59.20 Yen, 0.5752 euro.

The TWI was at 68.84.
