The Port of Tauranga says it remains fully operational, despite the disruption caused by a stranded container ship.

The listing Rena grounded on Astrolabe Reef on 5 October. It is leaking fuel and rough weather has caused it to list, knocking up to 70 containers into the water.

Port of Tauranga chief executive Mark Cairns says that has forced the re-routing of ships in and out of the port.

Mr Cairns says containers the Rena had been scheduled to pick up have been transferred to other ships for delivery.
