Stocks on Wall Street are little changed on Wednesday, as investors remain cautious about the outcome of a European summit to resolve the debt crisis.
The Dow Jones Index was up 52 points, or 0.5%, at 11,759. The Nasdaq Composite was down 12 points, or 0.5%, at 2626.
The FTSE 100 in London rose 0.5%, the DAX in Frankfurt fell 0.5% and the CAC-40 in Paris fell 0.15%.
Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 Index rose 13 points to close at 4301 on Wednesday. The NZX 50 rose less than a point to close at 3297.
At 6.18am on Thursday, the New Zealansd dollar was trading at 79.20 US cents, 76.62 Australian cents, 49.79 pence, 60.25 yen and 0.5729 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 69.03.
Brent crude oil was trading at $US111.45 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1724.60 per ounce.
