Market up 12 points at start of new week

The benchmark NZX50 index closed up 12 points to 3344 on Monday - a rise of 0.4%.

Among the major share movements, Telecom was up 4 cents to $2.67, Fletcher Building up 2 cents to $6.47 and Contact Energy lost 1 cent to $5.64.

Sky City Entertainment was unchanged at $3.48, Sky Network TV was up 2 cents at $5.49, and The Warehouse was unchanged at $3.26.

Mainfreight rose 5 cents to $9.95, Nuplex was up 2 cents at $2.71 and NZ Refining gained 2 cents to $3.10.

AMP rose 9 cents to $5.55, Wakefield Health was up 10 cents to $4.80, Xero up 5 cents to $2.85, and Tower gained 2 cents to close the day at $1.44.

Abano Healthcare down 6 cents to $4.28 after announcing it expects a drop in its six month profit figure compared to the same period last year.

In currency markets, at 5.20 pm the NZ dollar was at 79.68 US, 76.51 Australian, 49.64 pence, 62.22 yen, 0.5763 euro.

The TWI was at 69.58.
