NZX flatter

The benchmark NZX50 index closed relatively flat, up just 2 points at 3353, on Wednesday.

Telecom was unchanged at $2.69, Fletcher Building was down 4 cents at $6.48 and Contact Energy was up 2 cents at $5.71.

Sky City Entertainment was unchanged at $3.41, as was Sky Network TV at $5.49.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 7 cents to $2.35, and The Warehouse down 1 cent to $3.30.

Goodman Property Trust was unchanged at 99 cents, after its half-year profit fell 3.5% to $29 million.

Wakefield Health was up 0.5 cent to $4.85 after its half year profit rose 33% to $3.2 million.

Mainfreight was up 25 cents to $10.22, Tower up 5 cents to $1.55 and Metlifecare up 19 cents to $2.54. Delegat's Group was unchanged at $2.20, as was Hallenstein Glasson at $3.90.

Cavalier Carpets rose 10 cents to $2.90, and Kathmandu 1 cent to $2.52.

In currency markets, the NZ dollar was at 79.55 US, 76.86 Australian, 49.44 pence, 61.73 yen and 0.5733 euro.

The TWI stood at 69.41.
