Investor sees entrepreneurial culture lacking in NZ

A US billionaire investor says the environment to support budding entrepreneurs to build and commercialise their ideas needs developing in New Zealand.

Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla was in New Zealand to visit his investment, Lanzatech and met the founders of 10 companies he's interested in, last week.

Mr Khosla says it takes just one globally successful firm to be a role model and help nurture a business culture that can exploit the ideas of others, and turn them into something bigger.

He says that's missing here.
