Video kiosk uses social media to sell products

A madcap idea to harness the growing potential of social media has inspired two Hamilton entrepreneurs.

Video Kiosk was developed by Hamiltonians Ro Edge and her partner Peter Vargo over 18 months. It is a touch-screen kiosk that collects databases, memories, video or photos and uploads them to Facebook, YouTube and email.

The pair launched the business earlier this year, and Ms Edge says firms can use the video kiosk to market their products or services to their customers' family and friends.

The kiosk is about 1.6 metres tall with a rotating touch screen that can be personalised depending on the event.

"As soon as you touch the screen it gives you the ability to take a picture or record a video." Ms Edge says.

For example, she says, people can send a video postcard to friends and family as soon as they have experienced an event.
