Pumpkin Patch signals continuing hard times

Children's clothing retailer Pumpkin Patch says trading remains tough and it'll continue to cut costs and close stores to cope.

Speaking at Tuesday's annual meeting in Auckland, Pumpkin Patch's incoming chief executive Neil Cowie said the current retail environment is "pretty volatile" and he does not see that changing in the near term.

However, he says the company sees some exciting possibilities in its wholesale division and particular in online business.
