NZ share market higher at close

The New Zealand share market rose on Tuesday, with the NZX Top 50 Index closing up 21 points, or 0.7%, at 3239 on turnover of $81 million.

The Australian 200 index was up 12 points at 4070.

Fletcher Building was up 1 cent at $5.88, Telecom was up 1.5 cents at $1.99, Chorus was unchanged at $3.31, and Contact Energy was up 8 cents at $5.33.

Sky City Entertainment was up 4 cents at $3.30, Sky Network TV was up 5 cents at $5.43.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was down half a cent at 35.5 cents, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 7 cents at $2.44.

The Warehouse was unchanged at $3.17.

Methven was up 7 cents to $1.11 after its half-year profit fell by a quarter to $3.2 million.

Kathmandu was up 5 cents at $2.43, Nuplex was up 5 cents at $2.53, Freightways was up 4 cents at $3.35, Mainfreight was up 5 cents at $10.35 and Tower was unchanged at $1.50.

Diligent Board Member Services was up 8 cents at $1.88, OceanaGold was up 11 cents at $3.19.

Pumpkin Patch was down 4 cents to 60 cents and Allied Farmers was down 1.8 cents to 3 cents.

In currency markets at 5.20pm on Tuesday, the NZ dollar is at 75.48 US cents, 76.11 Australian cents, 48.73 pence, 58.79 yen, 0. 5697 euro, and the Trade Weighted Index stands at 67.42.
