Deadline set for claims for repayments

12:36 pm on 30 November 2011

Depositors in the failed Equitable Mortgages have only a few weeks to make a claim for repayment under the Retail Deposit Guarantee Scheme.

The company was placed into receivership in November last year, triggering the guarantee.

The Treasury says so far, the Crown has paid more than $170 million to 3700 Equitable Mortgages depositors, representing about 97% of all eligible depositors.

It says claims made after 31 December will not be considered for repayment and will instead be referred to Equitable Mortgages' receiver.
