NZX 50 ends the week up

The New Zealand sharemarket has ended the week up with the benchmark NZX50 index gaining 1.5 points, or 0.5% on Friday to close at 3271.

Turnover was $71 million.

Among the major share movements, Fletcher Building was down 10 cents at $6.08, Telecom was up 3 cents at $2.11, Chorus lost 1 cent to $3.01, and Contact Energy gained 12 cents to end the day at $5.40.

Sky City Entertainment was up 4 cents at $3.45, Sky Network TV lost 3 cents to end the day at $5.17, and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 3 cents to $2.41.

Air New Zealand was unchanged at 92 cents while Auckland Airport gained 2 cents to $2.37.

Port of Tauranga unchanged at $10.

Vital Healthcare Property Trust lost half a cent to end the trading day at $1.11.

Hallenstein Glasson was down 6 cents to $3.44, Pumpkin Patch was down 4 cents at 59 cents, and The Warehouse was down 3 cents at $3.11.

New Zealand Oil and Gas was unchanged at 70 cents and Steel and Tube was down 3 cent at $2.05.

Sanford lost 9 cents to close at $3.80. It will be removed from the NZX50 as it has failed to meet the stock exchange's liquidity requirement for the last two quarters.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm the NZ dollar was at 76.75 US, 75.9 Australian, 49.16 pence, 59.63 yen, and 0.5763 euro.

The TWI stood at 68.2.
