New refrigeration technology hailed by Maersk

Maersk Shipping says new refrigeration technology could cut carbon emissions from its shipping containers by 65%.

Trade and marketing manager Dave Gulik says traditional refrigeration systems focus on regulating air temperature inside the container, but the new software monitors the temperature of the cargo and constantly adjusts air flow and temperature control to ensure it is maintained.

Mr Gulik says the system mean no wasted energy, fewer carbon dioxide emissions, and better conditions for the cargo.

Alliance Group is one of a number of companies trialling the new system.
