NZ stock market down on Wednesday

The NZX50 index fell 9 points, or 0.3%, to close at 3284 on turnover of $25 million on Wednesday.

At 5.20pm the New Zealand dollar was trading at 75.63 US, 75.51 Australian cents, 48.82 pence, 58.94 yen and 0.5802 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 67.81.

Fletcher Building was unchanged at $6.16, Telecom was down 4.5 cents at $2.08, Chorus was down 5 cents to $3.02, and Contact Energy was down 7 cents at $5.35.

Trademe was down 6 cents to $2.84. It listed on Tuesday.

Sky City Entertainment was unchanged at $3.46, Sky Network TV was up 3 cents at $5.45, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 2 cents at $2.37, Auckland Airport was down 1.5 cents cent at $2.41.

Port of Tauranga was down 5 cents at $9.90, Sanford was up 2 cents to $3.77 and Freightways was unchanged at $3.65.

NZX was up 9 cents to $2.33.

Restaurant Brands was down 1 cent to $2.08. It has added a fourth fast food chain to its stable, gaining the right to run the Carl's Junior burger stores in New Zealand from next year.

The Warehouse was unchanged at $3.10.

New Zealand Oil & Gas was down 0.5 cent at 70 cents. Earlier this week it acquired a 90% shareholding in a company which holds an exploration interest in Indonesia.
