Kirkcaldie Stains says it has been approached about selling its famous department store in Wellington, but does not know who is behind the offer.
The company says it received a letter from J C Capital on behalf of an un-named group expressing interest in the retail assets of the company.
It says the group is not interested in the property assets or the company as a whole.
The company says a similar letter has been sent to a number of shareholders. It has had no other approach from J C Capital.
Managing director John Milford says the board will make contact with JC Capital to find out more about the offer.
