Auckland Airport says the first week of 2012 was its busiest ever for international travel.
The country's largest airport says it handled more than 170,000 international arrivals and departures during the first week of the year.
It says that was more than in any other week, including in the peak periods during the final stages of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
