Offshore markets mixed

Stocks were mixed on Wall St on Friday. The Dow Jones Index declined after Chevron produced lower-than-expected earnings and Procter & Gamble cut its profit forecast for the full year.

The Dow Jones Index fell 74 points to close at 12,660 and the Nasdaq Composite up 11 points at 2817.

In Europe: the FTSE 100 in London was down 1.1%, the DAX in Frankfurt was down 0.4% the CAC-40 in Paris was down 1.3%.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei was down 34 points to 8849.

The Australian market rose 17 points to 42 88 and the NZX 50 rose 13 points to 3295.

At 7am on Monday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 82.49 US cents, 77.38 Australian cents, 52.40 pence, 63.21 yen and 0. 6237 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.39.

Brent crude oil was trading at $US111.25 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1737.25 per ounce.
