Philips is downbeat about 2012 after losing money in the last quarter of 2011.

The electronics company lost $US211 million in the three months to December, blaming sluggish sales in its television unit.

Government cuts also ate into its healthcare equipment business, but chief executive Frans van Houten says that market still offers the best growth for

Philips.
