Pacific Edge is opening a processing facility in Pennsylvania, before launching into the US market.
The Dunedin biotechnology company, which is in the early stages of rolling out its bladder cancer test internationally, hopes to market the test to urologists in the United States by the end of the year.
It plans to use the 1000 square metre facility, at the Hershey Center for Applied Research, as an office and processing facility for the tests.
The site is next to the centre's new technology suites, which provide subsidised laboratory and office suites for companies.
Planning and construction is already underway and the launch of the new franchise is expected to create 100 new jobs in Hershey over the next three years.
