A New Zealand-born businessman has been given a lifetime award for services to finance and business.
The award to Sir John Buchanan was made as part of the New Zealand chief financial officer awards on Tuesday night.
Sir John, who is based in England, spent more than 33 years with BP where he became CFO after stints in the operational, commercial and trading arms of the energy company.
He currently serves on several boards, including as chairperson for the British fundraising arm of the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
Sir John was awarded his knighthood for services to industry by the Queen in the 2012 UK New Years' honours list.
