Ongoing talks for Opus expansion

6:51 am on 15 February 2012

Opus International is looking to expand its infrastructure consulting business into Asia and the Middle East.

The firm announced on Tuesday it made a profit of $24.5 million in 2011, almost 12% up on 2010.

It attributed the result, in part, to a strong market in New Zealand and Australia.

Chief executive David Prentice Jonathan Mitchell says the company has been looking at general infrastructure opportunities, such as roads and bridges, in Asia and the Middle East.

He cites the example of Qatar, which is to host the 2022 Football World Cup and will, Mr Prentice says, need to undertake considerable infrastructure projects to prepare for the event.
