NZ and Australian markets up

The New Zealand stock markets was up on Friday morning. By 12.13pm, the NZX50 was up 12 points, or 0.4%, at 3298 on turnover of $31 million.

Across the Tasman, the ASX 200 is up 28 points, or 0.5 percent, at 4209.

The New Zealand dollar was trading at 83.41 US cents, 77.62 Australian cents, 52.8 pence, 65.82 yen and 0.6358 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.54.

Fletcher Building was down 4 cents to $6.45, Telecom was up 2 cents to $2.145, Chorus unchanged at $3.28 and Contact was up 1 cent to $4.80

Sky City Entertainment was up 1 cents to $3.64 and Sky Television up 11 cents to $5.06 after its half year profits rose by almost 4%.

Tower was up 1 cent to $1.45 and Michael Hill was up 3 cents to 92 cents.

OceanaGold was unchanged at $2.90 after its half year profit slipped slightly.

ANZ was up 15 cents to $27.60 after reporting a slightly improved first quarter cash profit.
