Job market slow to pick up

New Zealand's labour market was largely flat in the last two months of 2011, suggesting the nation's jobs sector is struggling to pick up.

Statistics New Zealand says the number of seasonally adjusted jobs fell 0.1% in December compared with November.

On a year-on-year basis, filled jobs rose 0.7% in the last month of 2011.

The data makes up the national employment indicator, an experimental series, which provides a monthly indication of change in the number of filled jobs.
