NZ and Australian markets up

The New Zealand stock market was up on Friday. At 12.38pm, the NZX 50 index was up 26 points to 3357 on turnover of $46 million.

Fletcher Building was up 6 cents to $6.69 and Pumpkin Patch was up 1 cent to 81 cents.

Sky Television was up 3 cents to $5.05 and Telecom was up 3.5 cents to $2.19.

New Zealand Wine Company was unchanged at 85 cents after its books slipped further into the red.

The marketer of the Grove Mill, Sanctuary and Frog Haven brands lost $1.6 million in the final six months of 2011, 48% more than in the same period a year earlier.

Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index was up 26 points, at 4279 in early trading.

The New Zealand dollar was trading at 83.86 US cents, 77.63 Australian cents, 52.55 pence, 67.99 yen and 0.6299 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.81.
