NZ and Australian markets close higher

The New Zealand and Australian markets both closed higher on Friday.

The NZX 50 rose 45 points to close at 3376 on turnover of $130 million at 5.04 pm

The ASX 200 was up 18 points to 4364.

In currency markets the dollar was trading at 83.72 US cents, 77.58 Australian cents, 52.49 pence, 68.23 Yen, 0.6291 euro and the Trade Weighted Index stood at 73.77.

Fletcher Building was up 7 cents at $6.70, Telecom up 3.5 cents to $2.19 and Chorus was up 6 cents to $3.36.

Sky City Entertainment was up 7 cents to $3.87 and Sky Television up 7 cents to $5.09.

Tower was up 5 cents to $1.61, Contact Energy up 1 cent to $4.84 and Port of Tauranga was up 40 cents to $11.40.

Air New Zealand was up 1.5 cents to $0.88. Goodman Fielder was up 2 cents to 87 cents. The Warehouse was up 5 cents to $2.56.
