Lyttelton residents face five years of construction work as hundreds of damaged retaining walls are rebuilt around the port town.
Residents met authorities on Monday night to discuss issues relating to the rebuilding, which it is estimated will cost tens of millions of dollars.
The general manager of the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team, Duncan Gibbs, says the retaining walls are just one aspect of the $2 billion worth of remedial work to Christchurch's infrastructure.
He says their repair will be prioritised by the impact they have on other infrastructure like roading and water, sewerage and wastewater systems, as well as the impact on everyday life for residents.
