A pre-school in the Christchurch suburb of Bishopdale has been closed after inspections revealed it could be unsafe in future earthquakes.
The Bishopdale Community Preschool only just passed its initial assessment in November last year, but a recent re-inspection found it was weaker than initially thought.
The Christchurch City Council says it will now investigate repair and strengthening options for the 40-year-old building.
A council spokesperson says parents with children at the centre were advised on Monday of the immediate closure.
