A 48 year old Christchurch man will appear in the District Court on burglary charges.
Police area commander Malcolm Johnston says it could take weeks to sort through the dozens of household items which were found.
They include gym equipment, dish washers, vaccum cleaners, beds, dishes and guitars.
Mr Johnson believes many of the items were taken from homes that have been abandoned or red-stickered and had been stolen over the last several months.
He says police are speaking to one other person in relation to the arrest.
