Another small segment of central Christchurch is to be reopened by the end of this month as the demolition of earthquake damage buildings slowly progresses.
The vast majority of the central business district remains cordoned off more than a year after the 22 February earthquake shut down the central city.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) says the next section to reopen, probably by the end of this month, will be the west side of Latimer Square to Manchester Street and south to Worcester Street.
CERA also expects to be able to completely reopen Durham Street North in the next few weeks.
