The Earthquake Commission has so far settled claims with a total cost of $3.1 billion.

Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee released the figures on Friday.

Mr Brownlee said 99,310 claims have been settled and 14,982 homes fully repaired. A further 33,00 homes are in the process of being repaired.

EQC has paid out 13,745 building claims at or above the EQC cap of $100,000 plus GST.

Mr Brownlee said EQC has received a lot of criticism but these are good numbers.
