Cantabrians urged to have say on city plan

4:25 am on 21 May 2012

Christchurch City Council is urging people to have their say before public consultation on the city's plan for the year ahead closes on Monday evening.

The draft annual plan sets out the council's proposed services and projects and includes a proposed 7.4% rates increase and options for rebuilding 10 key facilities, such as a central sports hub and a convention centre.

However, several of those facilities could also be affected by decisions made by the newly formed Christchurch Central Development Unit.

The plan also outlines a financial strategy for the $3.3 billion cost of earthquake response and recovery efforts.

More than 1600 submissions have been received so far.
