Call for temporary shelters during cold weather

An advocacy group for people with earthquake-damaged homes says temporary emergency shelter should be provided during cold weather for people with badly damaged homes.

The spokesperson for Cancern, Leanne Curtis, says many people in Christchurch are still living in unweatherproofed homes or in temporary accommodation such as caravans and garages.

Many other people are living in homes with poor insulation or inadequate heating.

Ms Curtis says more should have been done to help people facing heavy snowfall in the city on Wednesday.
