A major garage door manufacturer has decided to recommit to Christchurch.

B&D Doors has signed a 10-year lease on a new site in the Hornby industrial area after earthquake damage to its site in Bromley.

The firm's country manager Tim Dalzell says the Christchurch plant produces 75% of the firm's product and employs 70 people.

He says it was important for the business to recommit to the region and it is everyone's responsibility to help regrow Christchurch.

Mr Dalzell says the new site will be operating within the next three months.
