A man whose wife was killed in the collapse of the Canterbury Television building says it's not good enough that files to do with its design were destroyed after the February 2011 earthquake.
The head of the structural engineering firm that oversaw the design, Allan Reay, has told a Royal Commission hearing that the original files were on disks that were destroyed after the files were printed and given to the commission.
Dr Reay said some files kept in a lock-up were also thrown out after they became water damaged.
Brian Kennedy, whose wife was killed in the collapse of the building, says it's not acceptable that files were destroyed, especially when the firm knew it would be called to give evidence.
He wants an apology from the engineer who oversaw the building's design.
