A leading architect says Christchurch's blueprint for the inner city is bold and inspirational.
The blueprint, revealed on Monday, includes a more compact, greener central city district, a new convention centre, a 35,000 seat covered stadium, and arts, health and justice hubs.
Chairman of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, David Hill, told Morning Report the plan was close to being the best possible design.
"It really defines our CBD and makes that CBD an area where a lot of businesses will want to relocate to.
"Large businesses -- the banks, and the lawyers that are displaced from Christchurch, I think it'll set them up, they now know where they want to get back in to and it will drive that central area."
Mr Hill says the plan will make Christchurch a world leader for inner city design.
