The right to detonate the implosion of Radio Network house in Christchurch has been won at auction for $26,000.

It is scheduled to be the first earthquake-damaged building in the city to be brought to the ground by implosion at 8am Sunday 5 August.

According to the online trading site TradeMe the auction winner is from Christchurch and is called Jim.

The auction will raise money for the restoration of the quake-damaged Isaac Theatre Royal.

The Government has agreed to match the winning bid with a donation towards other restoration projects.
