Impossible to tell where CTV fire started

An expert witness from the Fire Service was the last to give evidence to the Royal Commission of Inquiry investigating the February 2011 collapse of the CTV building that killed 115 people.

The hearing, which began on 25 June, has been adjourned and will resume on 5 September to hear closing submissions.

Peter Wilding told the Commissioners about the dangers that emergency response teams faced in tackling the collapsed and burning building.

He said because of the complete collapse, it was impossible to tell where or how the fire started.

Mr Wilding also said that to have carried out a proper investigation would have put members of the fire service at unacceptable risk.
