Zoning letters in the post

Many homeowners in Christchurch who appealed against the zoning of their land will receive letters on Saturday notifying them their request has been declined.

More than 1300 appealed to the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority in June to review their zoning decision.

Most wanted to go from green to red, meaning the land cannot be built on.

On Friday, the authority announced 104 landowners will have a zoning change. Three properties will change from red to green and 101 will go from green to red.

The decisions will cost the government about $19 million.
