Tower Insurance to offer new policies for Christchurch
Updated at 9:45 pm on 8 October 2012
Tower Insurance has re-entered the Christchurch market, offering new insurance.
Until September this year, no new insurance was being offered in the earthquake-hit city due to ongoing aftershocks.
Home buyers were limited to taking on the insurance policy that went with the house they were moving into.
Since then, Lumley, IAG and Vero have started offering new policies.
Like the others, Tower is only offering new insurance on a case-by-case basis on new homes and those built after 1950 - but not in areas deemed to be prone to liquefaction, known as TC3 properties.
