A shopping mall made of shipping containers in central Christchurch turns one year old on Saturday.
The Re:Start mall, created after the earthquakes, has 41 one retailers operating out of colourful containers around Ballantynes department store.
Manager Paul Lonsdale believes the mall has has helped give residents confidence the city centre will bounce back.
"People just love the look of it, and I think it's given more of a funky, quirky feel to Christchurch."
Mr Lonsdale says lease agreements mean the mall can stay until March, but he says it could remain even longer, and could be moved around different building projects as they happen.
Street musicians will play in the mall on Saturday and special events will be held to celebrate anniversary.
