Scores of Port Hill residents challenge zoning

At least 133 residents on Christchurch's Port Hills have applied to have their land zoning decisions reviewed.

Owners of properties zoned red or green had until midnight Friday to make their applications.

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says those applications will be assessed for validity, and a final number will not be known until next week.

The authority has also released a 3D rockfall modelling study of the Port Hills, which was used to help the Cabinet make its zoning decisions.

It says any property owners who have already applied for review will get another two weeks to provide supplementary information based upon the study.

The zoning review panel will include the authority's public policy and legal experts and an independent geotechnical engineer.
