A councillor wants Christchurch City Council to come up with a heritage strategy for buildings in the city.
Yani Johanson is calling for the Christchurch Town Hall to be completely repaired - against advice from council officers who recommend that all but the auditorium be pulled down and rebuilt.
Cr Johanson says the priority should be retaining unique buildings and developing a heritage strategy for the city.
Instead he says, many historic buildings are being pulled down and the city is losing its past before such a plan has even been formed.
