Cardboard Cathedral tubes to go on tour

Fundraisers for Christchurch's temporary cathedral are sending four large cardboard tubes around New Zealand to raise money for its construction.

The four 16-and-a-half metre-long cylinders are identical to those that will be used to construct the building, officially known as the Transitional Cathedral.

Cathedral spokesperson Craig Dixon says one tube will be displayed at each of the Anglican cathedrals in Auckland, Napier, Wellington and Dunedin for a week from 30 November.

The building is due to be completed in early April 2013.
