Architects from around the world have entered a competition to design and build a residential complex in earthquake-hit Christchurch's inner-city.
The Christchurch City Council launched the competition in October last year and has received nearly 60 entries.
The competition asked a team to create a sustainable, affordable lifestyle block on 10,000-square-metre site near Latimer Square on the corner of Madras and Gloucester streets.
The site is within walking distance of the Avon River and a planned performing arts precinct, entertainment and retail area.
A judging panel will shortlist the entries to three concepts on 28 February and these will be put on public display.
The winner will be announced in August.
