Company collapse won't affect quake claims

Updated at 1:10 pm on 12 February 2013

Insurers say owners of property damaged by the earthquakes in Christchurch won't be affected by the collapse of Mainzeal.

Mainzeal Property and Construction went into receivership on Wednesday.

Mainzeal was part of a joint venturewith the multinational engineering firm, MWH Global, to repair buildings damaged in the Christchurch earthquake which are insured by Vero, AMP, SIS and AA Insurance.

The insurers said the joint venture is separate from Mainzeal and MWH is continuing the rebuilding work with contractors.

MWH said it is considering taking on some Mainzeal staff who have been made redundant and is talking with the receivers.
