Red zone property deadline extended

Some red zone residents in Christchurch have been granted an extension of two months to settle their property with the Crown.

The Southshore and South New Brighton property owners originally had till 31 June, but now have until 31 August to settle and move.

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority said the extension will ease the pressure of moving.

Chief executive, Rodger Sutton stressed the deadline for accepting the Crown offer, 31 May, is still the same.

So far almost 6000 people have settled and moved.
